Awakenings is about diversity; we welcome people of all belief systems, ideals, and backgrounds to explore science, spirituality, religion, perception, evolving awareness, and the process of awakening to ones own inner truths. It does not matter what you believe, where you are from, or the path you are on; all are welcome here in love and tolerance.
People need to return to simple things again. Real sugar, real eggs, real dairy, real food. If you can't have sugar, don't drink "diet" crap. Find something else instead. Feed your need for sweets with strawberries, or tap a maple tree for a sip of sap.
Well said.
I knew it was you by the way Glad to see you - honestly.
Re: Nothing "Sweet" about Aspartame « Result #2 Today at 5:30pm »
1. Aspartame: this urban legend of a governmental conspiracy has been going around since 1998. Most of it is untrue, most of the claims were made up. Some is true, and some is an exaggerated hype of half-truths. Summary: some people are sensitive to aspartame and as such, should avoid it. Anyone who drinks 7 litres of ANYTHING per day is likely to get twitches and symptoms of illness. Water can even poison you if you drink too much.
2. Recombinant bovine growth hormone doesn't show up in the milk, and is only given to dairy cows. The dairy industry is already pretty unattractive as it is - but the shots of rBGH are the absolute least of their worries. As for antibiotics as a result of mastitis, any cow who gets mastitis is taking OFF the milking line, and -then- given the antibiotics and time to recover. If they dry out before they have a chance to go back into the milking line, they're slaughtered and used for beef. If they're still producing milk they go back into line once they've recovered. And - once they've recovered, there's no more antibiotics left in their system. Plus, it doesn't get into their milk anyway so it wouldn't matter. There is ZERO rGBH present in ANY dairy products. There is ZERO way to test dairy products to determine if any of it was made by a cow injected with rGBH. Any company that claims their dairy doesn't come from cows that are given this substance, has ZERO methods of proving their claim true. It's an advertising gimmick meant to attract people who object to dairy.
3. Stevia - you couldn't bake a decent cake with stevia, because the proportions are all wrong. If stevia really is 300 times more "potent" (potent? do you mean sweet?) than sugar, then you'd need only maybe..a 1/2 teaspoon instead of full cup. How exactly would you do cinnamon and sugar on buttered toast, at 300x "potency?" 1 grain of stevia to 2 teaspoons cinnamon? You have to remember, if you're cooking, you need proportions to be useful. You need a certain "amount" of dry food to wet food - some recipes even call specifically for "medium" eggs, because using a jumbo can ruin the whole recipe.
Stevia cannot, and will not, replace sugar. It shouldn't replace it. There's nothing wrong with sugar. It's a natural product, comes from a plant bearing its name, in fact - the sugar cane. If you've ever been to Jamaica and hacked a stalk for yourself, you'd see that it is delicious, pure, sweet, nothing more, nothing less than sugar. The refining process cleans it of dirt and bits and pieces of bugs that live in the cane. Personally I'm kind of glad the refining process does that. I'd hate to serve a cake with bugs in it. That's just me though.
Aspartame is also a lousy substitute for sugar. It's sweet, sure. But that's about it. So's saccharin and you couldn't pay me to put that crap in my coffee.
People need to return to simple things again. Real sugar, real eggs, real dairy, real food. If you can't have sugar, don't drink "diet" crap. Find something else instead. Feed your need for sweets with strawberries, or tap a maple tree for a sip of sap.
4. Skin cancer vs. sunblock: people -did- get skin cancer prior to the invention of sunblock. That's WHY they invented it. To combat skin cancer. Unfortunately, they insisted that consumers were safe using sunblock, and led people to believe that they could stay out for hours upon hours upon hours, free from worry. Which of course is untrue. Sunblock sweats off, and washes off. It has to be reapplied. Plus, if your -scalp- is exposed and you are "meant" to get skin cancer, you won't necessarily get it on your scalp. Are you going to wear a 100% blocking uvb/uva pith helmet to the beach? No? Will you slather your hair with sunblock instead? No? Well then sucks to be you, that sunblock won't do diddly for you. If it's your turn to get skin cancer, you're going to get it. Because you can't prevent being exposed to the sun, if you spend several hours on a sunny beach. There's just no way around it.

Dee, I was impressed of how you protected and wanted to protect all the weaker aspects in your dream. Yes, you are the Protector and I thank you for being who you are. I also like your energy that I feel while reading your posts.

(((Xasta)))
I love dreams, they are so revealing, transparent. Even when we deny ourselves consciously - our dreams always reveal the truth of who we are being currently, what we are carrying within us.
The bears have been with me for years, and they hold a mirror up to me, reminding me of who I am, and how I sometimes hurt myself. This dream reinforced to me that I am a nurturer, a provider, and a mama bear myself.
Re: What Did You Dream? « Result #6 Today at 3:46pm »
Dee, what a powerdream you have had! It takes great courage to protect the dog against a bear, and great power! Thank you for sharing. This is an old dream but as it ended a cleaning period of several weeks (meaning body pains and nighmares - facing fears nonstop), I will write it down. I entered a room made of tree logs. It was an old room, bare. There were long sheets of old cloth hanging from the beams. In each sheet was written something... evil. The atmosphere could, too, be described as evil. The evil became denser and denser and I started feeling like there was no escape, I was trapped in the evil, starting to suffocate. There was no door out of the room. In the dream I focused and shouted out loud: "This is not real! Only Love is real" and run against the sturdy wall made of logs and it gave in and turned into plywood through which I crashed my way out. Outside was a beautiful summer's day with green grass, trees humming in the wind, flowers blooming and bright sunshine. I took a last look at the log house and woke up. Since then I have had cleaning periods but shorter, with the usual nightmares, but I am no longer afraid of them. Even if I wake up with heart racing and sweaty, I calm myself down and think, okay, one of these again, wait for the heart to return to the normal rhythm and go back to sleep. If the whole night is full of these fear-dealing dreams, I command myself to have a nice dream at the end, before starting the day. This normally happens. When someone tells me that they had horrible nightmares, they get a little bit startled when I exclaim: "Excellent!" But I am truly happy for them dealing with their deepest fears and releasing them. And by the way, I am impressed by Dee's bear as power animal. Mine is a domestic cat purring and sleeping most of the time. Love to All, Always and Forever!
Re: Pagan origins of Christmas « Result #7 Today at 3:02pm »
Neo-Paganism is a religion of sorts.
The olde ways are not. There were so many gods, so many beliefs, Pagan was a term used to describe anyone who did not follow the new roman Christianity.
As for a church of ascension, I believe that is the central theme around Catholicism, just in a less new-age flavored way.
Re: Pagan origins of Christmas « Result #9 Today at 2:53pm »
Well, here's my five pennies worth. All is real to the one who wants to believe in it, understanding that religions have a great function in supporting people in distress - overstanding at the same time that religions restrict freedom of thinking and personal evolution. Paganism is yet another "religion" without an "official status". Let's see when someone sets up a "Church of Ascension" to make some money and guide the people to "the official path of enlightenment"; maybe someone already did it...
Re: Nothing "Sweet" about Aspartame « Result #10 Today at 2:36pm »
In our family we use natural sugar and stevia as sweetener and choose soft drinks that are sweetened with sugar. I used to import stevia to my country in Europe but sales was low as you cannot tell people that it's a sweetener and you have to tell them that EU has banned its use as sweetener. Coca-Cola has derived their own sweetener from stevia rebaudiana and I am hoping that they will be able to import it in Europe. This would also open the door for stevia as sweetener. Stevia originates from South America but is cultivated nowadays mostly in China. In Japan stevia is used as a medicine to treat diabetes. It is up to 300 times sweeter than sugar, with zero calories. Aspartame, however, is pure poison. Edit: I forgot. It is said that the sugar producers are against stevia and this is why stevia is banned. If it came to the market, sugar empire would be brought down. Imagine a natural sweetener 300 times more potent than sugar! The money they would lose!
